Literature Text

Amid the night
Illuminated by TV light
I asked for sugar- I meant for my tea
But I settled for his hand sliding up my knee
I'm not his to keep
But the RA is asleep
I'll stay for awhile
Pressed against cold floor tile
Hang up every sad kiss
Pretend we're people that we miss
I let him pull off my sweater
Even though I know better
This is a place I've already been
And I swear it won't happen again
He held my wrists and said 'once more'-
Isn't that what neighbors are for?
I kissed him stupidly and walked out the door
So we lay down our heads
With a wall between our beds
I guess thats the norm
When you live in a dorm
And your lonely stare...
My actual love is elsewhere
And text messaging
Suffices for love lettering
I feel bad for the boy I met
Because my summer fling is already set
I may just forget it, anyway, because I fear
After what I've learned this year:
How easily trust
Subsides into lust
And apathy grows
When you take off your clothes
To such an extent
That friendship went
And put up a sign:
Bed for rent.

"And if I hurt you,
Then I'm sorry.
Please don't think
That this was easy." -Konstantine
I've learned a lot, as of late...
